A Savior Is Born!

But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you hve found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end." ~Luke 1:30-33

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord." ~Luke 2:8-11

At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ~Philippians 2:10-11

A Thousand Words

So the only thing that even comes close to how I feel about Hannah Kate's 1-year portraits is . . . a picture is worth a thousand words . . . because, you see . . . I can't even find the words to describe how I feel about my beautiful baby girl (and my boy, too!) . . . but these pictures say it all!

Amy . . . sweet friend . . . you did it again! Thank you so much! Always remember that "to whom much is given, from him much will be required." (Luke 12:48) God has blessed you with a tremendous talent for capturing the beauty of his creation in photos. I must admit that since He has now required that you lay this aside for the present time, I will dearly miss your pictures. May He bless you greatly as you continue to walk in obedience to Him!

Welcome, Baby Jack!

Many of you know that I was super blessed by a ministry at our church called Great Expectations when I was pregnant with Hannah Kate. This ministry pairs an expectant mom with a mentor mom who follows you throughout the duration of your pregnancy. She prays for you, calls you, sends you cards, arranges for two weeks worth of meals to be delivered to your house after you come home with baby, delivers goodies to the hospital . . . and so much more! My mentor mom was absolutely fabulous! She kept Mason one evening so Seth and I could go out on a date the week before Hannah Kate arrived. She even showered Mason with gifts when Hannah Kate was born.

I have recently had the honor of being a mentor mom for the first time and have absolutely had the best time praying for Suzanne and baby Jack while anxiously awaiting his arrival. He is a miracle baby for sure! Not only was he a long three years in the waiting, but early in Suzanne's pregnancy, Jack was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, which affects the lungs and digestive system. Although we do not know right now just how this is going to manifest itself in Jack, he was born a healthy baby boy and is doing really well.

Jack arrived yesterday at 12:37pm. He weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and was 20 inches long. I just loved watching the nurse as she weighed him, measured him, monitored his heart rate, took his precious feetprints . . . these are things that mommies don't witness with their own babies because they are in recovery during this time. So I thought of Mason and Hannah Kate and how they went through the same thing. Being in the hospital waiting room as Suzanne was in surgery (c-section) was so much fun . . . but it was also an agonizing wait because I wanted to know exactly what was going on. It seemed like it took forever. I mean, I sort of felt like this baby was mine, too. Well, almost. And then his daddy brought him to the window to show him off. I have to say that one of God's greatest miracles is life . . . new life . . . the birth of a baby . . . and THE GREATEST miracle is also new life . . . eternal life . . . life in Christ!

Jack had so many people awaiting his arrival, including big brother Peyton. Isn't he just adorable?!? He hasn't stopped grinning from ear to ear.

Welcome, baby Jack! God has so much in store for you, and we can't wait to see what He does in and through your life!

Sentimental

Lately I have noticed that I am getting a lot more sentimental than I used to be. I guess it comes with age . . . and children. When I was little, Pa and Grandmother gave me a white baby cradle for Christmas one year. Grandmother sewed the soft mint green bedding for the cradle. Actually, all four of us girls - me, Jennifer, Denise and Ashley - were given these beautiful white cradles. Once I was grown and gone, Mama saved my cradle in the attic, along with several other prized and special toys.

A couple of months ago, the cradle came down out of the attic. It was just as I remembered it, only the bedding was a little stained and faded from the years of use and storage. I wanted to give this cradle to Hannah Kate for her 1st birthday. I excitedly went to a fabric store and picked out several patterns of coordinating fabric (hot pink and green, of course!) and embellishments to create and sew new bedding. I have to admit I was very excited with the outcome, especially considering my amateur sewing skills.I know it means little to Hannah Kate now, but I hope it will mean something to her later . . . knowing that her great-grandparents blessed her mommy with that cradle one Christmas, and her Mommy loved putting her babies to sleep in that cradle, and now she is putting her babies to sleep in the cradle that Mommy once played with. Who knows . . . maybe she'll one day sew new bedding for it, too and give it to her daughter, my granddaughter!

Celebrating Hannah Kate

We had such a fun time celebrating Hannah Kate's 1st birthday. We had a little party in Louisiana during Thanksgiving and another little party here when Pop and Mimi came. Here are some pictures from the festivities.
Abbie and Mason enjoyed helping Hannah Kate eat her "smash" cake. They mostly enjoyed picking the fondant balls and polka dots off of the cake.

For some reason, Hannah Kate wasn't very interested in opening her presents. So Abbie and Mason took care of that for her.Polka dots and cupcakes was the "theme" for Hannah Kate's first birthday. We actually got a few "good" family pictures. Surprise surprise! If you've been following our blog very long, you know what I mean!Hannah Kate loves her Pop, and he loves her! They have such fun playing together. I love watching my dad play with Hannah Kate. I like to think that's probably how he played with me when I was his little girl.Pop has a lap full, but he loves every minute of it!Hannah Kate loves to give kisses!Hannah Kate enjoyed her cake again and so did Mason!Pop and Mimi arrived with a whole lot of presents from our Georgia family. And this time around, Hannah Kate knew exactly what to do! She had some help from big brother, too. The only problem was that every time she discovered a new gift, she wanted to stop and play with it so it took awhile for her to open all of the gifts. And what birthday would be complete without Cindy's balloons?!? This balloon bouquet is bigger than Hannah Kate is!What a happy day!
