For the Journey

Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So today is my new favorite day. ~A.A. Milne

There's a new children's museum in town.  The kids were gifted tickets for Christmas so we went for a visit today.  Would you like to know why I chose today to go?  Because Seth is still on vacation and could go with us!  If you've ever been to a children's museum before, you totally get this!  Let's just say it was a good experience for everyone, Seth included.

We spent two hours at the museum, and everybody had fun.  It was a beautiful, imaginative, creative space and so well done!  One of the things I most appreciated about it was how spacious it is.  There was plenty of room for the children to move around and play in.  I highly recommend.

Our first stop was the Go Go Garage.

Oh,  I had to laugh.  This so reminded me of the time long ago (as in way back before Mason was born) when I was about to leave to go to work but noticed I had a flat tire on my car.  So I called Seth.  I don't know exactly what I was expecting.  Actually, yes, I do.  I was expecting him to come home and change my tire for me.  I mean, I was dressed in a suit and heels.  But his response was for me to get the book out and change the tire myself.  And my response?  I hung up on him.  Oh, I was so mad.  And then I promptly got the book out and changed the tire myself!  In my suit and heels.  And then I drove to work.

There was a cute little fishing corner.

This, of course, was one of my favorite spots.  So colorful!

Every children's museum I've ever been to has a "grocery store."  But I have to say this is the BEST one I've ever seen!  So realistic and well-stocked.  It was very impressive.  The kids really enjoyed this spot.

The scanner and register were the real deal.  You could look up the produce items.  You could scan bar codes, and the product description and price would pop up on the screen.  Once you were finished, the register totaled your bill, and you paid it at the credit card scanner.

The girls, of course, insisted on painting in the Art Garden.  There were also several other artsy crafty activities.

Another space they really enjoyed was the fitness area.  You can balance, jump, hang, climb, pedal.

See?  The children's museum isn't just for children.  It's great for the "young at heart," too!

Kids and bubbles are always a great combination.

How many times can you see yourself?

Oh goodness.  My first thought?  There really is such a thing as too many Ellies!  Oh, I mean that in the best way possible!

It was hilarious watching the four of them operate this crane, picking up and stacking the blocks.

One of the coolest things was the tugboat simulation.  You can actually power the boat down the Mississippi, under the bridge and around other barges.

Before we left, they asked to climb the storybook climber one more time.  I think this was one of their favorite spots.

There are so many other learning zones that I didn't post here.  These were just the areas we spent the most time.
