Mason and Hannah Kate (YES! That is a bow in her hair!) strike a pose before leaving to go to the soccer field for Mason's first game.
Mason is ready to go! And, yes, his uniform would be highlighter yellow.I have a new favorite number - SIX!Coach John gathers the fellas together for a pep talk before the game begins. There are seven kids on Mason's team but only four play at a time.Coach John has them lined up and ready for kick-off (yes, I realize this is soccer and not football, but I just don't know the soccer lingo yet!).Let's just say it took a lot of coaxing, bribing and cheering from the sidelines for Mason to engage in the game. He didn't seem to want to go after the ball if someone else was. He also told me when he came to the sidelines for a water break that he "did not like the green ones." It took me awhile to figure out what he was talking about, but then I realized he was referring to the other team! So we had to have another little talk with him after the game to explain that his team will always be playing another team at game time and that they will always try to get the ball away from him. But that doesn't mean that he is not to like the other team!Isn't he the cutest?!?From the sidelines . . .FINALLY . . . Mason went after it and made it to the ball before everyone else. He gave it a good lil kick, and his teammate was able to kick it in the goal.Although you can't see the ball in this pic . . . they're all going after it.Hannah Kate enjoyed cheering on her "Bubbie." That's what she endearingly calls Mason most of the time.Again, he's not too sure whether or not he wants to go for the ball.It was stinkin' hot and humid . . . but it sure did give Hannah Kate some pretty curls!Mason is waiting on the coach's whistle so he can kick the ball into play.Towards the end of the game . . . he finally got the hang of it and started going after the ball.Little ManAt the end of the game, they walked to center line to give the opposing team a high five.

Mason then walked over to the sidelines so we could gather our stuff. He looked at me and said, "Okay, I'm ready for my trophy now."
