For the Journey

Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So today is my new favorite day. ~A.A. Milne

  • 14 is the number of lines in a sonnet.
  • FOURTEEN is the NUMBER OF POINTS BY WHICH UGA BEAT LSU!!!!!!!!!!

Whoo hoo! What a game! This picture says it all!

So the last time UGA met LSU at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Seth, Troy, Ellee and I went to the game. Seth was wearing his LSU purple and gold while Troy, Ellee and I were wearing our UGA red and black. Besides the fact UGA lost a game they should've won because they were obviously the best team that day, the LSU fans were absolutely unruly, obnoxious and down-right MEAN. That was the day I promised myself I would NEVER return to Death Valley wearing red and black OR purple and gold. Since that day, UGA and LSU have met again several times. LSU has won. UGA has won. But this weekend . . . was different.

It just so happened that we were in Louisiana for Abbie's birthday party. So we decided to take Mason down to Tiger Stadium to watch the Golden Band from Tigerland make their way down the crowded street and into the stadium. We thought Mason would really enjoy the spectacle. We made our way down to the stadium and managed to find a parking space within a mile of the stadium (even though we had to pay $10 for it!). As we made our way through the crowded streets, there was very little red and black to be seen in the sea of purple and gold. And when there was, you knew it. Shouts and taunts of "TIGER BAIT" filled the air. It nearly made me nauseous. But I'll do anything for my Mason.

Seth wasn't wearing a hint of purple or gold, and I wasn't wearing a hint of red or black. The only thing identifying us with either team was Mason's LSU cap. As we saw those faithful Dawg fans, I'd walk close by as if to say, "I'm with you on this one." It made me feel good. So we found a place by the barricade to watch for the band to come down. We watched and watched and watched. For 45 minutes we watched. And then we heard someone say that the band had already come down! Aargh! So we trudged back to the truck and headed to Abbie's birthday party. It wasn't all for naught though. While we were standing and waiting, a young guy walked by holding an LSU football. He saw how adorable our Mason was, and he was standing so patiently trying to get a glimpse of a tiger or a football player . . . he reached out and gave Mason his LSU football! Now that's what I call a classy Tiger fan. I never thought such existed.

Back to Abbie's birthday party . . . it was a pumpkin party, and Abbie had asked everyone to wear their Halloween costumes. Mason was dressed up like a cowboy (although it was like pulling teeth convincing the child to wear the costume for 5 measly minutes so we could get a picture). Abbie was the Pumpkin Princess, of course. And Hannah Kate . . . was a GEORGIA BULLDOG CHEERLEADER!!!!!!
