Baby's First Picture

I had my first sonogram at 9 weeks. That was a realy neat experience because I didn't have one when I was pregnant with Mason until 18 weeks. I just thought I was going to see a little bean, but I could already see the arms and legs taking shape. The baby reminded me of a Teddy Graham. I could see the heart beating, and the baby was sort of jumping around a bit like a jumping bean.

To answer a couple of questions . . .

No, this was not planned. As a matter of fact, it came as a HUGE SHOCK.

I have been feeling absolutely horrid. I'm not sure who coined the phrase "morning sickness," but they obviously never had it. It's more like "all day all night sickness," or at least it has been for me. I was never the least bit sick when I was pregnant with Mason so this has been an unpleasant experience for sure. I've been sick for seven weeks now, but hopefully that will be waning since I'm approaching my second trimester. I've been on a couple of different medications, but the challenge is finding one that insurance will cover for an extended period of time and doesn't make me sleepy. The most recent one I was prescribed put me to sleep for 24 hours, and I only took one pill! The good thing about it though was that I slept through the night for the first time since we've moved. But, seriously, I can't take it anymore. Seth has been working out of town a lot (in Louisiana - go figure) so Mason has been spending some time with his MawMaw and PawPaw while Mommy tries to get better.

Powder Puff

One day last week, Mason was "playing quietly in his room all by himself" while I was fixing lunch. I really should've known better because Mason has never played quietly in his room all by himself! When lunch was ready, I called him to the table. He came running down the hall saying, "Powder, Mama, powder!" He was covered from head to toe. Imagining the worst, I went to his room . . . and it was even WORSE than I had imagined. He had climbed up on top of his tool bench and grabbed the powder from the changing table (yes, I had left it out earlier).

Powder was everywhere . . .
. . . in the carpet . . . even hand prints smeared down the wall . . .
. . . all over his tool bench . . .
. . . in his crib . . .
. . . in his shopping cart . . .

. . . in his toy box . . . in his dump truck . . .

The pictures just don't do it justice. It was a BIG FAT MESS! Not one to focus on the negative, at least it made his room smell really good!

Oh, and this was the day after he grabbed a jar of jalapeno peppers from the frig and dropped them (not on purpose - I just couldn't get to him in time) AND took the top off the bubbles and poured the bottle all over the sofa (I'm pretty sure this was on purpose)!
