For the Journey

Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So today is my new favorite day. ~A.A. Milne

"You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance." ~Psalm 65:11
I'm not sure how long ago we starting going to the LSU gymnastics meets, but it's been several years.  Maybe four.  Or five?  Besides the fact that Ellie is heavily invested in gymnastics right now, it's been something that gets us out of the house on Friday nights during the winter months.  Mason and Hannah Kate may act like they aren't interested, but they are.  I was thinking earlier today that Friday nights are kind of like our family fun nights, and, for now, all five of us are together.  But I have a feeling that during the next couple of years or so as the bigs continue to get older, that might change.  For now though I enjoy our Friday nights together.  LSU is actually competing with the Gym Dawgs tonight in Athens so we're watching it on television, but these pictures were from the season opener last week.

I have to admit it's so nice not having to look for tickets each week since Mimi got Ellie season tickets for Christmas.  We started the night at a new-ish pizza place in town close to campus, and it didn't disappoint.  You can get a slice of pizza, which is the equivalent to a 1/4 pizza for $5.  Unless, of course, you're Mason Bayham, and you eat two "slices" of pizza which, yes, is the equivalent to 1/2 a pizza.

The LSU student section started the crown tradition a few years ago.  They kept showing up in those Burger King crowns, which signified when the gymnasts stuck their landings.  A couple of years ago, the squad began "crowning" each gymnast with a similar Burger King crown who stuck her landing on each event.  So at this first meet, they gave "crowns" to all the fans as we entered the door.

And . . . I realize it's totally and completely possible that they aren't in it for the gymnastics at all . . . but the concession stand.  I'll give you one guess who has her cheeks stuffed with popcorn?!
