Today was academic awards day for the 1st-3rd graders. I already knew that Hannah Kate was going to receive the Platinum Scholar award for maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout the entire school year. Hannah Kate is a very conscientious student. She is also an over-achiever. She loves school and has such a thirst and a hunger for knowledge and learning. She is also very independent when it comes to her school work.
I was so proud of her as she walked across that stage to receive her award. There were also several other 1st grade students who received the Platinum Scholar award. Here they are with the 1st grade teachers, Elementary Director and Chief Academic Officer.
What I did not know was that Hannah Kate was also chosen as the recipient of the Highest Achieving Student in 1st Grade award. Because our school is a magnet school with an emphasis on academics and the arts, very few awards are given and all awards given are for either academics or arts. It was such an honor for Hannah Kate to be chosen for this award. There really are no words to describe how proud I am of her! Tears came easy again today, but they were tears of joy and gratitude that I have the privilege of being this precious girl's Momma, that the Lord has entrusted her to me.
We are very thankful for Hannah Kate's super cute, super sweet teacher! This was Miss Vaughn's first year as a teacher, and I have no doubt that she will continue to excel as an educator. She gave her class and her students her all. We really have been so blessed with some amazing educators during our years in school.
And tomorrow? Well, tomorrow is Mason's turn!
